BabyStory ("the App") is a baby care logging app made and operated by an independent developer. These Terms are the agreement between you and the developer covering your use of the App.
By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App. If you have questions, contact us at nerdens.seong@gmail.com.
1. The service
BabyStory does two things:
- Care logging. You record everyday care events for a baby — breastfeeding, bottle feeding, solid food, pumping, diapers, sleep, bath, temperature, medicine, and free-form memos — and view them as a timeline with simple summaries and statistics.
- Family sharing. You can generate an invite code so that family members can join a baby's record and see and add the same care entries and photos.
The App is completely free. There are no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, no paid tiers, and no advertising. There is no community feed, no marketplace, and nothing is sold through the App.
2. Your account and who may use the App
- An account requires an email address and a password, handled by Firebase Authentication.
- The App is for adult parents and guardians. You must be 19 or older, or at least the age of majority where you live, to create an account.
- BabyStory is not a service for children to use. Information about a baby stored in the App — name, date of birth, care records, photos — is entered by the adult account holder about their own child or a child in their care. By entering it, you confirm you have the right to do so.
- You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us at nerdens.seong@gmail.com if you think your account has been accessed by someone else.
- One account is for one person. Please do not share login credentials — use the invite code feature instead.
3. Your content
Everything you put into the App — care records, notes, baby profiles, and photos — belongs to you. We claim no ownership of it.
To run the App we need permission to handle your content in a technical sense: to store it, to display it back to you, and to show it to the family members you invite. That permission is limited to exactly those purposes and lasts only as long as you keep the content in the App.
We do not use your content for marketing or promotion, to train AI or machine-learning models, for analytics or profiling, or to provide to any third party for their own purposes. Storage and authentication are provided by Google Firebase acting on our instructions; the details are in our Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for the content you upload — for example, that a photo is yours to share and does not infringe anyone else's rights.
4. Family sharing and invite codes
- Only the owner of a baby's record can create invite codes and remove members.
- Anyone who joins with an invite code can view and add care records and photos for that baby, and can see the display names of other members.
- You decide who to invite, and you are responsible for that decision. Before sharing an invite code, make sure the person is someone you trust with your baby's photos and records. An invite code works for whoever holds it, so send it only to the intended person.
- Invite codes expire 7 days after they are created. You can remove a member at any time, which ends their access going forward.
- Content a member already saw or saved on their own device is outside our control. Removing a member does not undo what they have already seen.
5. Things you may not do
When using the App, do not:
- Access, or try to access, another person's account or another family's data;
- Attempt to bypass the App's access controls, security rules, or invite-code system;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the App, except where the law expressly allows it;
- Use bots, scripts, or automated tools to create accounts, generate or guess invite codes, or send bulk requests;
- Upload content that is illegal, that infringes someone else's copyright or privacy, or that depicts a child in an abusive or exploitative way;
- Upload photos of another person's child without that guardian's permission;
- Interfere with the service — for example by overloading it, injecting malicious code, or disrupting other users.
6. Changes to the service
The App is free and maintained by one developer, so we may add, change, or remove features over time, and we may suspend the service for maintenance.
If we plan a material change, or to shut the service down entirely, we will make a reasonable effort to give advance notice in the App or by email, and to give you time and a way to export or save your records and photos before access ends. We can't promise the App will be available forever.
7. Not medical advice — important
BabyStory is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
- The records, summaries, statistics, and charts in the App are a convenience for keeping track of what happened. They are not clinical measurements and must not be used as a basis for medical decisions.
- Nothing in the App is a substitute for advice from a doctor, nurse, midwife, or other qualified health professional. If you have any concern about your baby's health, feeding, growth, or development, consult a professional right away.
- The App has no alarms, monitoring, or alerting function that can detect a problem with your baby. Never rely on the App in an emergency. In an emergency, call your local emergency number or go to a hospital immediately.
- Records may be missing, delayed, or wrong — because of an input mistake, a sync failure, or a bug. Do not assume the absence of a record means an event did not happen.
8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that your data will never be lost.
Please keep your own backups of anything you cannot afford to lose, such as important photos. Data can be lost through bugs, device problems, an outage at our cloud provider, or accidental deletion by you or a family member.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, lost data, or losses arising from your reliance on records in the App or from a decision you made based on them.
This section does not limit liability for intentional misconduct or gross negligence, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be waived. If your local law does not allow some of these exclusions, they do not apply to you.
9. Ending your account
- You can delete your account at any time from within the App. What happens to your data on deletion — including records shared with family members — is described in the Privacy Policy.
- You can also leave a baby's record you were invited to, which removes your access without deleting the baby.
- We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms — for example, one being used to attack the service, to access other people's data, or to upload illegal content. Where the situation allows, we will give notice and a chance to explain first; for serious or clearly illegal cases we may act immediately.
- We may also close accounts that have been inactive for a long period, after giving notice by email.
10. Privacy
What we collect, where it is stored, who can see it, and how long we keep it are described in our Privacy Policy:
The Privacy Policy is part of these Terms.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. If a dispute cannot be resolved by talking to us first — which we would much prefer — it will be brought before the courts of the Republic of Korea, with the Seoul Central District Court as the court of first instance.
If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence, or of the right to bring proceedings in your local courts where that law gives you one.
12. Changes to these Terms
If we change these Terms, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and publish the revised version at this URL. For material changes we will give notice in the App or by email before the change takes effect. If you keep using the App after that, the revised Terms apply; if you disagree, you can delete your account.
